Feminist Wine

We’ve probably posted a fair number of sexist labels. To help balance things out, here we have a bunch of feminist wine labels.
I’m Not Your Waitress is one in a series of wines made and bottled by Lac Belle Amie of Elizabethtown, North Carolina. Bitchin’ Babes is another.
And for the man who has everything, there is Sugar Mama red wine. This helpful website (“Cougars and Young Men Dating Club”) opens the door so you too can find a sugar momma (if it’s for real). (At this writing, sugarmommameet.com was unavailable, so the link shows a cached page.)

Hello Kitty Wine
A lot of labels on this blog speak to men. This one speaks loudly to women. Above are two of four Hello Kitty table wines imported from Italy by USA Wine Imports of New York, NY.
Wiki says Hello Kitty is:
one of many simply drawn fictional characters produced by the Japanese company Sanrio. Designed by Ikuko Shimizu, the first product, a vinyl coin purse, was introduced in Japan in 1974, and in the United States in 1976. … The Hello Kitty line has since developed licensing arrangements worth more than $1 billion a year in sales. Examples of products depicting the character include dolls, stickers and greeting cards to clothes, accessories, school supplies, dishes and home appliances.
This might be good for Valentine’s Day. Sanrio has licensed an awful lot of Hello Kitty products, and who would not enjoy a Saturday afternoon flaunting their Hello Kitty Lawnmower?

Pink Triangles, Beer, a Bottle of Pride
We thought this was a good example of target marketing, as opposed to a product like Budweiser that targets a far larger percentage of all alcohol beverage consumers. Pryde Vodka displays the historically significant pink triangle. Gay Pride beer was brewed in New Hampshire as of this 1999 approval. The third image is from a 2004 approval for Pride Lager made in California. There is very little sign, on the internet, that any of these brands are alive and well.

Punk Bubbles: Do You Prefer the 2004 Stench, or Filth?
Large is the number of alcohol beverages with a reputation for elegance and exclusivity polished to a fine sheen. An example is Armand de Brignac Champagne. But in a burst of contrarian marketing, The Grateful Palate is running full speed in the opposite direction. Stench and Filth are Australian sparkling wines, recently approved. They are part of a Punk Bubbles line of sparkling wines. The line also includes Cheated, Vacant (For Humans) and No Future. Should we look forward to the 2005 Sewage?
