Tomato Wine
Fred Franzia likes to say he can make good wine from grapes grown just about anywhere. These two labels tend to show he could also make wine from just about anything. This tomato wine seems to decide the age-old question of whether a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable. TTB classified it as a “table fruit wine” and the winery itself says it’s made with “only the finest fruits available … ” Along the same lines, here is an avocado wine, vinted and bottled in Florida. TTB classified it as a “table fruit wine.”

Tomatoes are a vine fruit that will grow from seed and produce a crop in one season. For an impatient guy like me, that’s reason enough to give tomato wine a try. Well last year I made some from yellow cherry tomatoes I grew in my own back yard. I never thought I’d see a commercial tomato wine, though, thank you for telling us about it!

Wow; to my surprise, Joann’s website (as in the comment above) says the avocado is indeed a fruit.

You could add “antidesma” to the list of fruits from which wine is made.
It is a little know tropical/subtropical fruit. It grows here in Miami.
And old acquaintance from the Rare Fruit Council (Silas Wood) used to grow antidesma and make wine from it more than 20 years ago!
