Frank Y. Knizner, Attorney
Frank Y. Knizner is an Attorney at Lehrman Beverage Law, PLLC. Frank joined the firm as a Law Clerk in 2014, and became an Associate Attorney in 2015. Frank’s practice areas include trademark law, federal alcohol beverage law, and state and local alcohol beverage law.
As part of the firm’s Trademark Practice Group, Frank advises clients on all matters pertaining to trademarks. Frank performs trademark clearance searches, prosecutes federal trademark applications at the USPTO, and handles trademark appeals, oppositions, and cancellation proceedings at the TTAB.
As part of the firm’s Federal Practice Group, Frank advises clients on issues related to federal alcohol beverage law. Frank helps clients obtain and amend federal basic alcohol permits from TTB, and helps them comply with federal law and TTB regulations.
As part of the firm’s State Practice Group, Frank advises clients on state and local alcohol beverage laws and regulations, and helps clients obtain licenses and permits from state and local ABC agencies.
In addition to advising clients, Frank monitors current issues related to alcohol beverages, including label lawsuits and trademark disputes. Frank writes about these topics in various publications, including Beverage Master Magazine, Craft Spirits Daily, and Bevlog.
Before working at Lehrman Beverage Law, Frank was a Law Clerk at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Delaware, where he helped the brewery monitor trademarks and comply with federal and state laws related to brewing, franchise agreements, and trade practices.
Frank graduated from The University of Mary Washington in 2012, and earned his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2015. Frank was admitted to the Bar of Maryland in 2015.
Born and raised in Arlington County, Frank is a proud Virginian, and loves all of the great craft beer, wine, and spirits the Commonwealth has to offer. When he’s not working, Frank enjoys playing guitar, brewing beer, being outdoors, travelling, and spending time with his friends and family.
